How our rankings work
Our list of 11 casinos is ordered by the five criteria below. Scores are editorial judgements, not measurements — we say so plainly rather than dressing them up as data.
Rand banking and cashier
Balances held in ZAR, local methods such as EFT and Instant EFT in the cashier, and clear minimums. Sites that force currency conversion score lower.
Bonus clarity
We look at whether the welcome offer is stated plainly and whether the wagering terms are easy to find before you opt in. A large bonus behind vague terms scores worse than a smaller, clearly explained one.
Game range
Breadth across slots, tables and live dealer, and whether the lobby is navigable. A slots-only casino isn't penalised for being focused, but it can't score full marks on range.
Mobile experience
Each site is opened on a phone on mobile data. We note load time, whether the cashier works without a desktop, and how much the layout fights you.
Track record and support
How long the brand has served South African players and how reachable support is during SA hours. Newer sites can rank well but start from a lower base here.
What the rating means
Each casino gets a rating out of five that summarises the criteria above. It is a comparison score for choosing between the sites on this page — nothing more. It is not a safety certificate, not a licence check and not a prediction of what will happen when you play.
What we deliberately avoid
- • No guaranteed payout times — those are the operator's to state, not ours.
- • No invented bonus figures. If an operator publishes no welcome offer, we say so.
- • No "risk-free" or "sure thing" framing. Every game has a house edge.
- • No paid placements. Commission never changes the order of this list.
Updates and corrections
